The US and France may not have much in common on first appearances. The land of the free condemns the European country as a pretentious nation with nothing more to offer the world than haute cuisine of frog's legs and snails. Meanwhile, France sticks its cultural nose in the air and chastises America for being a vacuous land of fast-food outlets and philistines. It is by no means a match made in heaven, : their respective first ladies have got excellent style.Michelle Obama and Carla Bruni-Sarkozy are both women in their 40s, they are both married to men with an immense amount of power and they share a serious love for designer clothing, shoes and accessories. When they came together at the D-Day memorial landing ceremony in France, the pair showed off their flair for fashion by each sporting an ensemble that is perfectly on-trend this season. They each looked radiant in fresh, crisp white dresses that were cinched at the waist with an elegant belt, paired with bare legs and to-die-for peep toe kitten heels - proving that great fashion minds think alike.Interestingly, each first lady opted to wear a design by labels from their home country.
